The internet as we know it is at its most vulnerable when it comes to preserving art! You may be saying, well the way-back machine exists and people always say the internet is forever to watch what you post because itll never fully go away. wrong!!! Now more than ever are online artists wiping years worth of their hard work and art with one click of a button, unable to be traced. Now more than ever the entire internet runs on monetization tons of websites are shutting down due to low income or wiping data after a period of time to lower usage costs. Gone is the internet of the past where websites are still left untouched for decades, artists leaving up their old works they look down on, and free means of creativity being saved for no real reason other than love. Music is even dying too with increased monetization and copyright. Twitter artists will have a bad day and decide to just kill everything theyve made or nuke it once their passion for it is gone (cough cough onlinepetclub). Its crucial now more than ever to archive what you love. Archive old internet gifs before the websites theyre hosted on close, archive music before copyright seizes all traces of it, archive fanart before its wiped forever. Archival is love and a testiment to save something out of the pure will to see that the work the artist put into it never goes to waste. I hope to contribute greatly to this cause using my website.
