dream tonight took place in a sort of alternate universe where i was a man living in a sort of university accomodations that doubled as a place for animal preservation. Our building was more reminiscent of a space outpost youd see on a far away planet. The world was like earth but not quite, the animals were all somewhat familiar but not exactly. my friends and i went on an expedition and came to a place with a black slow moving narrow river. the water was very black almost pitch black and one of my friends while walking along the edge tripped and tumbled into the water. we were worried for their condition because none of us had gone in it before but my friend seemed just fine and soon enough was jokingly pulling us in while trying to help them out. we all ended up in the ink colored water. after that we returned back to our uni and chattered like friends do, everything as it should be. A timeskip took place and suddenly we were weeks ahead. all of us were seating in a cafeteria that was huge like an atrium eating our lunches. in a matter of seconds tons of water flooded inside with high speed throwing everything and everyone about. within a few minutes we were all floating towards the ceiling as lights began to give out. It became entirely black as the water reached the top and swallowed everyone inside of it. I couldnt see it but i knew everyone was slowly drowning and so was i. abruptly i regained my conciousness and ripped open my eyes to see. This time it wasnt a void but instead i could see. i saw floating debris tables, chairs, food, bodies suspended in darkened water in all different positions. out of the corner of my eye i watched as something twitched and moved, i hurried to turn to it in fear but found it to be the body of one of my friends. they were contorting as if being shocked by electrical currents or muscles pulled like puppet strings. eventually they stopped twitching and instead raised their head and opened their eyes. our gazes met and they swam to me close. we realized there were no bubbles coming from our noses or mouths. her eyes were odd too, its like the pupil had entirely taken over the iris leaving no color, and it looked like it had doubled in size. her eyes were now these big black orbs with a bit of white remaining around the edges. big black circles staring back at me as i assume mine were staring back at her. we were breathing somehow and seeing eachother in the dark. more bodies began to twitch, i recognized them all as my friends. everyone who had been in the black water river. I suddely spotted the body of (i suppose) my crush. I was overwhelmed with sadness to see his lifeless body and became enboldened to share my saliva with him as if it were a dormant instinct kicking back into gear. i swam to him and grabbed his head, forcing our lips together as i spit into his mouth. I pulled away to examine him as he started to twitch like all the others just after about a minute. my friends watched me do this before heading off to do this process over and over to the other students. He reanimated before me. The rest of the building was a mystery to me, i had no idea how long we had been dead suspended in water. Swimming to the top of the water i slammed myself into the ceiling tiles a few times before they became loose before hauling myself up into the gap and crawling my way to an open room that hadnt been flooded. I trudged my wet body through the building to see the animals had escaped their enclosures and were laying about next to students who hadnt been in the cafeteria during the flood. their eyes looked glossed over and barely clinging to life, skin wrinkled and deflated like a leather sack. Starvation and sickness seemed to be the cause of the horrific sight before me. The building began to stir and fill with life again as more of the reanimated students were leaving the flood area and reentering the other parts of the building like me. My eyes met a little bat like creature clinging to a ledge in a wall next to other almost bats. I felt such sadness and pity on it i gently grasped it and spit in its mouth too. Its eyes turned just as mine and a small voice entered my brain. I was able to understand the animals speech and speak back to it telepathically. It told me of the sickness that had hit the students above the flood and how the flood cut off the only exit to the outside thus making them unable to get any food to feed themselves or the animals. More humans and animals were revived in front of me by the others, parasite spreading thing to thing bringing back vitality. My last thought while holding the little bat creature was hope for a second chance at continuing our exploration and preservation of the world we were on, now as new beings able to skirt death with new adaptations.
